Dutch braids are one of my favorite “do it yourself” styles because once you get it, you GET IT. It does take practice, but it’s so worth it for those days you want a cute braid moment without a full install 🦋

How to do a basic Dutch braid:

1) Section the top: Take a small triangle section at the front hairline and split it into three even strands.

2) Start the braid: Cross the right strand under the middle, then the left strand under the middle. (Under is what makes it “Dutch” and gives that raised braid look.)

3) Add hair as you go: Each time you cross a strand under, pick up a small piece of hair from that side and add it into the strand before crossing.

4) Keep tension even: Try not to pull too tight at the hairline. Smooth with your fingers as you go so it stays neat.
